STP is a brand name and trade name for automotive additives and performance division of Clorox Corporation. The company was founded in 1953, the name was derived from "scientific Treated Petroleum". The company entered the market with STP oil treatment. In 1961 the company was acquired by the Studebaker-Packard Corporation. Studebaker briefly tied up in their advertising as an abbreviation for "Studebaker tested products ".
But Studebaker-Packard felt that the company could one days beyond the pace of its parent company and CEO recruited to participate in raising the image of the product. At the same time, Granatelli Racing has become the public face of the company, often wearing a white dress decorated with red oval logo of the race, distributed thousands of stickers all the time.
